Second time visiting the Mid-City location- the food is so delicious and fresh, service is excellent - the staff at this location are so attentive and friendly. Our service Elvira is a five-star- she was friendly and went above and beyond our expectations! I highly recommend this location when considering a good authentic Mexican food.

I was greedy so so good.. I've been coming here since high school and I still love it, but I will admit if can be hit or mess but on this day it was Amazing Bravo to the chef I was there this pass Sunday

We've been fans of El Cholo for nearly 35 years, mostly for dinner.  It was Halloween the first time we came here, and all the servers were dressed in costumes -- some over the top! A fun evening with great food and drink. It may seem pricey for Mexican food, but El Cholo serves the best Mexican dishes in Los Angeles IMHO.  The restaurant has a festive feel, contributing to a very enjoyable dining experience.  Service is always very good. Margaritas here are exceptionl, made with fresh juices, not mixes.  My favorite is the L.A. Lemonade (5/5 $16.95).  Some of my favorite dishes are the Blue Corn Chicken Enchiladas (4/5 $23.45), Plato De Carnitas (5/5 $22.95), and Cheese Enchilada and Chile Relleno Combinacione (4/5 $21.45).  My "must have" dish is the Green Corn Tamales (5/5 $22.95), but sadly it's sesonal.

This was really good food my only issue was the serving size was very small and the Chile Relleno had very little Chile in it, I think there were diced chilies not a whole or even half a Chile. The candied pecans after the meal were delicious as well.

Iconic old-school Mexican, always great to support a business that's been around as long as they have. The restaurant runs seamlessly, they are very friendly and welcoming and work well through the large crowds. Food is made to order quickly and always fresh. I enjoy the crispy tacos here. They have yummy margaritas, too and ideal for large groups and birthdays.

Every time I fly into Los Angeles, I go to El Cholo. I dream about this Mexican food in my sleep its so good!!! I always get 2 enchiladas with onions, Rice, and beans. I could eat two of those plates; they're so good. I give the highest recommendation for El Cholo, especially since it's like 50 years old or more and they're still going strong and still putting out really high-quality but unbelievably tasty Mexican food in Los Angeles The prices are still reasonable s well. Do yourself a favor go check it out but don't tell any of your friends otherwise, I'll never be able to get a table !!! ha ha. Please open up an El Cholo in Manhattan I'm begging !!! Please, please, please, please!!!

Overall a great place! Came here with my boyfriend on a Wednesday afternoon, the restaurant has a good ambience and you can defintley feel the history and culture that they want to show and share. we were lucky enough to dine during happy hour in which they have several drinks and dishes for a cheaper price. We ordered an LA Lemonade and Margarita for our drinks. They were too strong for us but was still very good. We got complementary Chips and Salsa. And the Salsa was AMAZING. You'll taste the fresh ingredients of the salsa. We also got a Chimichanga (out of the happy hour menu), Albodigas bowl and a Carne Asada Platter. Chimichangas were good and the Albodigas were extraordinary; it was our favorite. The Carne Asada was not traditional, we believe they used New York Strip but it was still decent. El Cholo is known as a ledgendary restaurant here in Los Angeles. For over a 100 years it offers great mexican and Tex-Mex dishes that everyone will love. It has several branches but nothing beats the original. I Invite everybody to come here.
